Popular questions
Who can apply for access?
Agencies that run PR, SEO, marketing, content or reputation management, manage guaranteed media placements for several clients, and want transparent pricing without waiting on a specialist for every order. Apply for agency access.
How do I apply, and what will I be asked?
The application has two short steps. Step one is about you: first and last name, job title, business email and phone number. Step two is about your agency and needs: company name, website (optional), type of company, number of active clients, whether you buy placements today and how many per month, whether you need white-label fulfilment or want to resell, your main interests, and how you heard about us. A referral or partner code is optional.
Use your business email, because that is the address the invitation is sent to and the one you will sign in with.
How long does the review take?
Our team reviews each application, usually within 1 to 2 business days. If it is approved you receive an email with your invitation.
How do I check on my application?
After you apply we email a confirmation with a private link to your application status page. It shows the stages Received, In review and Decision, with the dates. Keep that email, because the link is the only way in. Email us if you lost it.
Why is there no "Create account" button?
The Marketplace is for approved agency partners, so accounts are not opened to everyone. Apply for agency access first. When your application is approved we email an invitation to your business address, and that invitation is where you sign in or create your account.
My application was approved. What now?
Open the email titled "You're approved for News USA Marketplace access" and press Accept your invitation.
If you already have an account with that email address you will see Sign in to accept. If you do not, you will see Create an account to accept. Then press Join on the invitation page and your team is ready.
It says the invitation is for a different address.
An invitation only works for the email address it was sent to. Sign out, then sign in or register with exactly that address. If you are signed in as someone else, the invitation page shows a link to sign in with the right one.
My invitation link expired or does not work.
Invitations last 14 days and a newer invitation replaces the earlier link. Ask your team owner to resend it, or contact us and we will send a fresh one.
It says my email already belongs to another team.
Each person can be on one team at a time. Leave your current team first (Team, Leave team) and ask for the invitation again. If you are the owner of that team, contact us and we will help move it.
I did not get my verification code.
Check spam or junk, then ask for a new code on the verification page. You need a verified email before you can join a team. The code is six digits.
I forgot my password.
Press Forgot password? on the sign-in page and follow the email. Too many wrong attempts lock the account for a short while, which lengthens if it keeps happening, so wait before trying again.
How do I narrow down the catalogue?
Use the filters beside the results: category, country, authority, traffic, sponsorship, and whether an outlet has an example placement. Filters combine, so each one you add narrows the list. Your place in the results is remembered, so Back to results returns you to where you were.
What do authority, traffic and do-follow mean?
Domain Authority (DA) and Domain Rating (DR) are third-party scores out of 100 for how strong a site's links are. Higher generally means more weight with search engines.
Traffic is the site's estimated monthly visits. Do-follow means a link from the article passes ranking credit; no-follow does not.
What do Sponsored, Non-sponsored and Discreet mean?
Sponsored means the article is marked as sponsored content. Non-sponsored means it is not marked. Discreet means it is published without an obvious sponsored label. When an outlet shows none of these, the partner has not said.
What are the campaign planner and campaign packs?
Build a campaign (the planner) helps you assemble a set of outlets for a campaign. Campaign packs are ready-made groups of outlets you can add in one step.
Both work with prices, so they are not available to a team whose prices are switched off.
Can I compare outlets or save a search?
Yes. Add outlets to Compare to see them side by side, save outlets to your wishlist, and save a search to be emailed when new outlets match it.
Why can't I see prices?
Prices are switched off by default for agency teams. We enable them per team, and the team owner can also hide them from individual members. If your team should see prices, ask your owner or contact us.
How does a quote request work?
When prices are hidden your cart becomes a quote request: the outlets and quantities, with no amounts. We price it and send you a quote.
A quote stays open for 15 days, with reminders at 7 days and 1 day left. You can accept it, message us, suggest a different total, or reject it with a reason. If we revise it, you get the new price on the same quote.
What is a saved quote, and how is it different from a quote request?
A saved quote is your own cart saved under a reference. You can share its link with a colleague or client, and it holds its prices for 14 days. Find them under Quotes.
A quote request is for teams whose prices are hidden: you ask, we price it, and we send you a quote (see above).
What is the writing add-on?
On outlets that offer it you can ask us to write the article for you. It is added to your order at checkout, listed on its own line, and is not part of the outlet's listed price.
Why do some categories need a specialist?
Some outlets add a publisher fee for restricted subjects and check the content first. Those go through a conversation with a specialist rather than self-serve checkout, so use Ask a specialist on the outlet's page.
Is there a discount for buying many placements?
Buying 10 or more placements at once? Ask about volume pricing from your cart. A Volume Pricing Code can be applied at checkout.
How do I pay?
Checkout opens Stripe's secure payment page. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach our servers.
Where can I find my invoice?
Open Invoices in your account. Invoices for paid orders are kept there and stay visible after payment.
What do the order statuses mean?
Received: we have your order. Being reviewed: a specialist is checking it. Confirmed: it is accepted and in progress. Published: your placement is live. Declined: we could not take it on.
Follow each order on Orders. We email you when the status changes.
My quoted order has a "pay by" date.
An order made from a quote is held for 15 days. We email reminders at 7 days and 1 day left. After that date the order expires. Contact us if you still want it.
Is my order confirmed as soon as I place it?
Placing an order is a request. It becomes binding when a News USA specialist confirms availability, timing and the final price with you. If an outlet has repriced or is unavailable, we tell you before confirming and you can accept the change or cancel that line. See the Terms for the details.
Can I cancel an order or get a refund?
You can cancel an order line at no charge any time before the specialist confirms it. After confirmation, writing begins and publisher slots are reserved, so cancelling is at our discretion and may cost the work already done. Once a placement is published it cannot be cancelled or refunded.
If a placement you paid for cannot go ahead, we refund that line to the original card. Refunds go through Stripe and usually show on your statement within 5 to 10 business days.
Can the publisher edit or reject my article?
Publishers keep editorial control. They may edit for style and length, add a sponsored or partner disclosure where their policy or the law requires one, or decline content that does not meet their standards. If a placement is declined we offer an alternative or a refund of that line.
My payment failed or I closed the page.
Nothing is charged until Stripe confirms the payment. Return to your order and pay again. If you were charged but the order does not show as paid, contact us with the order number.
What can owners, approvers and members do?
Members prepare quotes. Approvers also place the orders. Owners can do everything an approver can, and also invite people, change roles and remove members.
How do I invite a colleague?
Owners open the Team page, choose Invite, and enter the colleague's work email and role. They receive an invitation link. If they have not joined yet, you can resend it, and the earlier link stops working.
How do I leave or remove someone from a team?
A member can leave from the Team page. The owner can remove any member there. The owner's own seat cannot be removed by the owner, so contact us if ownership needs to change.
What is on the agency dashboard?
Your agency dashboard shows the placements you made this month, your active and completed orders, and twelve months of reports for the whole team.
How does refer and earn work?
Refer another agency. When that agency has bought $2,500 of placements, your team receives $250 of Marketplace Credit. The credit is spent at checkout.
Can I be told when new outlets match my search?
Yes. Save a search and we email you when new outlets match it. Manage them under Saved searches.
How do I turn on two-factor sign-in?
Open Profile & security and find Two-factor authentication. Scan the code with an authenticator app and enter the six digits it shows. If you lose your phone, contact us and we will reset it after checking it is you.
Can I download or delete my data?
On Profile & security you can Download my data, deactivate your account, or delete it. Each asks for your password. See our Privacy Policy for what we keep and why.
Can I read the outlet inventory in my own tools?
Yes. We can give your team an API key for a read-only API: a list of outlets with their public facts (authority, traffic, links, what the site is), one outlet's details, and the valid filter values. Contact us to ask for one.
Prices are included only if your key was set up to show them. We never return our buy cost or partner details.
How long does a key last, and are there limits?
A key lasts 10 days. Its issuer gets a reminder in the last day and can regenerate it, which replaces the old key. Each key has a daily limit on outlets read (20,000 by default) and can be restricted to the IP addresses you name.
Repeated wrong keys from one address lock that address out for a while. Call the API host directly, not through the website address.
Can ChatGPT or Claude search the catalogue for me?
Yes, through an AI connector. We set one up for your team, then you add it in ChatGPT or Claude and approve the connection. The assistant can search and compare outlets, filtered by category, country, authority, traffic and more.
A connector's access lasts 90 days, with a reminder before it ends, and has a daily allowance of 5,000 outlets. Contact us to have one set up.
"That business email already belongs to another team"
That email is already on a team, and one person can only be on one. See It says my email already belongs to another team.
"Prices are not switched on for your team"
Your team's prices are off, so the planner, checkout and price filters are unavailable. Ask your team owner, or contact us to have prices enabled. Until then, build your cart and send it as a quote request.
"Verify your email address before you join a team"
Open the verification page, enter the six-digit code we emailed you, then open your invitation again. See I did not get my verification code.
"This quote has expired"
Saved quotes hold their prices for 14 days. Ask whoever sent it to save a fresh one, or build your own from the catalogue.
The sign-in check ("I am human") does not appear.
Reload the page and turn off any extension that blocks scripts for this site. The check protects every sign-in, so you cannot skip it. If it still does not appear, contact us from a signed-in device, or email the address in our Terms.
I keep being asked to sign in again.
